Countries list of Betamax free SMS (text message) services

Several days ago, when I wanted to use txtbe to send free SMS I found that txtbe discontinued to provide free SMS to some countries such as UK and Belgium. So I have to find other alternative free SMS services. Though I know that Betamax provides free sms services to many countries, but as it doesn’t support unicode and support receiving reply via Email as txtbe does, I didn’t really use its free sms services though I used several VoIP products from Betamax.

Similar to the free VoIP services provided by Betamax, different products have different free sms destinations. Since I need to send free sms to Belgium, China and UK most frequently, I checked the countries list of different Betamax free sms services and made a matrix as below:

For these VoIP products above, it seems that you don’t need to buy call credit to have free sms service. At least somebody said it was the case for Nonoh. On websites of these VoIP products, Betamax states that “** Voip*** reserves the right after a certain amount of SMS to start charging sms for the default rate.”

For Poivy and 12VoIP, their case are different. Poivy and 12VoIP provide free sms to almost all countries including Egypt and South Africa. The only country excluded in the free sms service list of Poivy is Italy and for 12 VoIP there are Italy and Turkey. There are several other VoIP products from Betamax provide free sms service to Turkey, but none to Italy. Txtbe also doesn’t have Italy in their free sms service list. On the websites of Poivy and 12VoIP, Betamax states that

“New users can try our service for free for a total of 5 sms.

Register your account and buy a minimum of 10 EUR credit in order to send free sms to all countries on the sms rate list, listed as ”Free” for a period of 3 months.

Limitations:

Maximum 30 free sms per seven days, measured per username and unique IP address. Unused free sms cannot be taken to the following week(s).
After three months you have to buy credit again to send free sms
If exceeded default rates apply.”

As Betamax changes their rate frequently, it is better to double check before buying credit to use their service.

Tried it before at voipcheap.com. At first it’s ok but after awhile, sending FREE SMS to Malaysia just stop working.
