Instruction of GrandCentral VoIP service
GrandCentral has their VoIP services launched for a while, now I have time to take a look it and give a simple intreduce here.
GrandCentral announces it has numerous functions such as providing phone number, voice mailbox and so on. Besides registration only with invitation, GrandCertral has the almost same bussiness model with Jaxtr and Jangl. It provides a free US number then any call which dials up this number will be forwarded to your registered phone number. The difference between GrandCentral and Jaxtr etc is GrandCentral provides a fixed virtual number. You can pick up one you prefered from many numbers and this number will not change during making a call. On the other side, GrandCentral only provides the virtual phone number coming from US, but Jaxtr or Jangl can let you choose a virtual access number from many countries. The destination number is also limited in US.
Login to GrandCentral, the window screen displays the page of voicemail box. The voicemail can be played online (The interface of GrandCentral seems to be Flash based on).
GrandCentral address management doesn’t work right now. After adding your new contacts, it will appear a dialing button behind the phone number. From this point of view, GrandCentral provides the web callback feature. After registering, you can receive email from GrandCentral. In this email they mention they would credit $3 to your account, therefore you can try to use the web callback feature.
But I don’t find any list about the rate. Though the phone number of contact can be any countries, you can not really make a call to destinations other than US. Except US number, when you make a call to other countries, the system will notice this is invalid number.
In the setup menu you can set one number that rings different phones based on who’s calling. You can also find many other options.
For example displaying callin number and using GrantCentral number as caller ID so on.
GrandCentral privides WAP version, you can forword to your Gizmo account and change to different numbers during the call etc.
Grandcentral has so many features, it is worth to try.
